Tears are God's great gift to humankind

I sent this to the Saint, Rheka Basa, after reading one of her (many) moving columns. She answered with kindness and with grace. Let me share with you:
The gift you give ... of tears to the grieving

Allows the sadness and sorrow to flow out of

Their bodies, to flow out of their minds, to flow out of their souls

Tears are God's great gift to humankind

That we might express our profoundest sorrows

Our deepest sense of loss

Cry our tears ...

And then find the inner strength

The Peace of God (which surpasseth all human understanding)

And to move forward

Cherishing the loving memories

Of those to whom we have sublimated ourselves

In partnership, and in love

And honoring their love and caring for us

By how we manage to continue without them

But not really without them ... for they are indeed

Woven into our hearts, our minds and souls

Providing us comfort, shelter, understanding

Knowing they loved us

And knowing, at a mythic / spiritual level

That all things are connected

That past present and future intertwine

That those we have loved remain with us

As long as we remember them, and honor them

And that Love

Binds us

And that all souls

Are part of a greater whole

And we know these truths

We experience these truths

In moments of sadness and sorrow

In moments of joy and remembrance

In the places where things that are known

Cannot be proven

By reason or experiment

But these things are known

They are known and felt and seen and sensed

These things are known

Thank you for caring enough to share,

For it is in giving that we receive.
